Analyst Report: FLEX
1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Flex rose 21.36% over the week to a $93.07 close on Thursday October 29, 2026, from $76.69 on October 22. Almost all of the gain came in two sessions: +8.26% on October 27 ahead of earnings, and +11.61% on October 28 after fiscal Q2 2027 results beat estimates and management raised its fiscal 2027 revenue outlook, according to Trefis and Benzinga. Cloud and Power Infrastructure (CPI) revenue grew 54% to $2.5 billion. The stock closed essentially flat on October 29 (+0.04%), and the brief found no company-specific driver for that session. The rebound follows an 11.08% fall on October 22 that the brief could not trace to a cause. The shares remain 17.48% below their level 20 sessions ago, so the week recovered part of a larger decline.
2. THE CATALYST
The move came in two stages.
| Session | Close | Change | Volume | Driver per brief |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-10-22 | $76.69 | -11.08% | 11,005,800 | Cause not sourced; eighth straight down session per Trefis |
| 2026-10-27 | $83.35 | +8.26% | 11,539,200 | Pre-results buying |
| 2026-10-28 | $93.03 | +11.61% | 13,116,800 | Fiscal Q2 2027 results and raised guidance |
| 2026-10-29 | $93.07 | +0.04% | 7,370,700 | No company-specific driver found |
October 27. Investing.com and Finwire attributed the gain to the announced name of the planned spinoff and the Form 10 filing, a reiterated Buy from BofA Securities, and positioning before earnings. The spinoff news produced only a 2.6% premarket gain, so these sources explain a minority of the session's 8.26%. The date of the name reveal is unresolved, since a Quiver Quantitative piece about the same filing is about 34 days old.
October 28. Trefis and Benzinga reported the following:
| Metric | Reported | Estimate |
|---|---|---|
| Adjusted EPS | $1.18 | $1.06 |
| Revenue | $8.49bn | $8.17bn |
| Q3 adjusted EPS guidance | $1.19 to $1.25 | $1.22 |
Consensus EPS is cited at $1.05 by Benzinga and KuCoin, and at $1.06 by Investing.com and Yahoo. This report uses $1.06. CPI revenue rose 54% to $2.5 billion. Management lifted its fiscal 2027 revenue outlook to $34.9 billion to $35.9 billion, an increase of about $950 million, roughly half from the existing business and half from EPC Power. StocksToTrade reported Q3 net sales guidance of $8.87 billion to $9.17 billion, and Trefis reported management expects CPI revenue to rise 105% to 115% in that quarter.
October 29. Yahoo Finance's morning wrap listed Flex among top movers on the earlier results, and the day's macro focus was the September PCE inflation report. A StockStory piece claiming a 3.6% morning jump does not match the closes and cites the wrong quarter, so it is disregarded.
3. COMPANY PROFILE
Flex Ltd. (Technology, Electronic Components) provides supply chain and manufacturing solutions to data center, communications, enterprise, consumer, automotive, healthcare, industrial and power customers. It reports three segments: Integrated Technology Solutions, Regulated Manufacturing Solutions and Cloud and Power Infrastructure. Its peers in electronic manufacturing services include Jabil (JBL) and TE Connectivity (TEL), and the brief also names Celestica.
Recent events from the brief:
- Flex completed the EPC Power acquisition on October 14 and expects it to add to fiscal 2027 earnings (KuCoin).
- Flex agreed to sell $2.0 billion of Series A convertible preferred stock in its Axiom unit ahead of the spinoff (Investing.com, October 5).
- It expanded its modular data center portfolio for AI deployments (Investing.com, October 12) and plans new AI infrastructure products over the next six months (Benzinga).
- Communications benefited from AI-related networking demand, while consumer-related Lifestyle markets showed incremental softness (TradingKey).
The market capitalisation is $34.39bn, with a forward P/E of 13.2 and a trailing P/E of 35.9.
4. DEEP DIVE ANALYSIS
Do fundamentals justify the move? The October 28 session has a clear basis: an earnings beat of $0.12 per share, a revenue beat of $0.32 billion, higher full-year revenue guidance and 54% growth in the segment tied to AI data centre demand. The October 27 gain has a weaker explanation, and the brief concedes that most of it is unexplained. Inference: the 8.26% rise reflects short covering and positioning after a steep decline, though no source confirms this.
Why the stock was depressed. The shares had fallen from $112.78 on October 1 to $76.69 on October 22. The brief found no cause for the 11.08% drop on October 22. TradingKey reported, without naming brokers or targets, that analysts lowered price targets over higher debt, preferred share dilution and separation complexity. That item is unverified. Simply Wall St pointed to Axiom separation capital expenditure of about US$1.5b to US$1.6b, which has pulled free cash flow conversion guidance down to about 40%.
Peers and sector. Over the move period, JBL gained 7.61% and TEL gained 6.88%, both less than Flex's 21.36%. On October 28, Trefis reported all five peers on its list rose but none by as much as Flex, with Celestica up 8.4% and the XLK technology ETF up 0.8%. Vertiv rose 16.48% on its own results, which points to broad appetite for AI infrastructure names, though Vertiv is not a Flex peer. Celestica headlines saying it fell about 14% over the week were not verified.
Comparable episodes. Trefis noted a one-day gain of this size had happened once in the prior 365 days, the 39.7% rise on May 6, 2026. Barchart reported that rally followed fiscal Q4 results, fiscal 2027 guidance and the CPI spin plan. The shares reached a 52-week high of $166.86 on June 3, so the current price sits 44.23% below that peak.
Bull case. CPI growth is accelerating, guidance rose, the forward P/E of 13.2 is low against the trailing 35.9, and BofA still carries a $150 target, as reported by Investing.com from a search snippet. Q3 CPI revenue growth of 105% to 115% would extend the trend.
Bear case. The Q3 EPS guidance midpoint of $1.22 matches the analyst estimate, so the guide leaves no surprise. Free cash flow conversion near 40%, preferred share dilution and spinoff execution risk remain. BofA cut its target from $180 to $150, and the stock has not regained its moving averages.
5. TECHNICAL SNAPSHOT
At $93.07, the shares sit below the 50-day average of $106.17 and the 200-day average of $103.01, and 44.23% below the 52-week high of $166.86, though well above the 52-week low of $53.07. The October 29 session traded in a $89.02 to $95.22 range on 7,370,700 shares, which is 1.77x the 50-session average of 4,164,994 and below the 13,116,800 recorded on October 28. Volume stayed elevated on the flat day, which suggests buyers and sellers were active around the new level. The nearest support is the October 28 close of $93.03, just below the latest close, followed by $87.49 from October 20. The nearest resistance among recent closes is $112.78 from October 1 at the start of the 20-session window, with the two moving averages in between.
6. RISK FACTORS
- Execution risk on the Axiom separation, expected in the first quarter of calendar 2027 subject to approvals (Quiver Quantitative, date unclear), and the associated capital expenditure.
- Free cash flow conversion guided to about 40% (Simply Wall St).
- Dilution from the $2.0 billion Axiom convertible preferred.
- Softness in consumer-related Lifestyle markets (TradingKey).
- Unexplained selling: the October 22 drop of 11.08% has no sourced cause, so the factor behind the earlier weakness remains open.
- Sentiment in AI infrastructure names, where Celestica reportedly fell about 14% over the week despite a raised outlook (unverified).
Upcoming dates: fiscal Q3 2027 results are listed in the market data for January 27, 2027, with an EPS estimate of $1.25 and a revenue estimate of $9.04bn. Trefis expects them in February 2027, and the dates conflict. The Axiom separation is targeted for the first quarter of calendar 2027.
7. ACTIONABLE OUTLOOK
Short term (1-2 weeks). The shares have consolidated near $93 after the two-day surge. Buyers need to hold the $93.03 area; a loss of it would open the way back toward $87.49. A move higher faces the 200-day average at $103.01. Elevated volume suggests continued volatility.
Medium term (1-3 months). The results and guidance support a recovery thesis, and the January 27 date, if confirmed, brings the next test against a $1.25 EPS estimate and $9.04bn revenue estimate. Axiom separation news and cash flow conversion will drive sentiment. Raised analyst targets would support the shares, while further target cuts tied to dilution and debt would weigh on them.
Long term. The thesis built on the CPI segment and AI data centre demand has strengthened with this quarter's 54% growth and higher guidance. The separation and balance sheet questions remain unresolved. This is analysis only and not personal financial advice.
